Altyre Woods
Altyre Estate is a privately owned family-run historic estate situated 2 miles south of Forres in Moray. The estate extends to 13,000 acres of which 7,000 acres is sustainable woodland, along with grouse moor and farmland. Key features include Loch of Blairs (a fishing loch with restored boat house now serving as a natural education centre), a standing stone (ogham-inscribed cross slab from late 8th/9th century), and restored Grade-A listed farm buildings from the 1830s now housing a Glasgow School of Art satellite campus.

Lots of birdlife can be spotted. Aberdeen Angus cattle are also present on the estate.
History
The Altyre Estate has been the family home of the Cummings clan for 800 years. The estate features a standing stone—a slender ogham-inscribed cross slab made of grey sandstone believed to date back to late eighth or ninth century, situated west of the old kirk of Altyre site. Restored Grade-A listed farm buildings from the 1830s underwent £3.5 million restoration in 2017.
